Hugues Bonshe Makalebo holds a Master’s degree in Finance, Banking, and Insurance from the Université Protestante au Congo in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. He also holds two certifications in Banking and Management from the ProCredit Academies, as well as three certifications from the Frankfurt School of Finance in Business Development, SME Financing, and Microfinance.
Currently, he holds the position of Managing Director at Baobab Bank Madagascar, which he joined in September 2020, following a distinguished career in the Congolese banking sector. Throughout his career, he has held various executive and managerial positions, including Chief Risk Officer, Chief Financial Officer, and Deputy Chief Executive Officer.
Hugues is also a member of the Board of Directors of Baobab DRC, a subsidiary of the Baobab Group in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Additionally, he is a Founding Member of DRC Impact Angels, an investment fund dedicated to financing Congolese SMEs.
Eric Ntumba holds a Master’s degree in Information Technology from North West University (RSA) and a Master’s degree in Public Administration from ENA (France). Before joining Baobab, Eric worked mainly as an executive in the Congolese banking sector, within major institutions such as Equity Bank, Procredit Bank, Citigroup and Banque Commerciale du Congo.
He has had the honor of sitting on the Board of Directors of North West University (RSA), the Board of Directors of the Ecole Nationale d’Administration (France) and is currently a Director of the “New Generation DRC Fund” of the King Baudoin Foundation (Belgium).
Mamadou CISSE holds a Master’s degree in Accounting, Audit, and Control, as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Management Sciences from the University of Paris Nord.
He was appointed as the Managing Director of Baobab Senegal in January 2017. Mamadou joined Baobab Group in 2009 and has held various positions within the organization. Between 2010 and 2016, he led the Internal Audit Department in Senegal and also supervised the audit departments of Baobab’s African subsidiaries.
Since 2018, he has also been a member of the Board of Directors of Baobab Côte d’Ivoire. As an expert in Inclusive Finance, Mamadou serves as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Association of Microfinance Institutions in Senegal and is a member of the Board of Directors of the National Fund for Microfinance (Fonamif).
Sarah made part of her career in consulting firms (Lee Hecht Harrison, Deloitte France and Côte d’Ivoire), assisting various companies and organisations, either in France or internationally : her missions were focused on the management & transformation of their HR policies with a specific focus on skills management, remuneration, acquisition and talent management.
Prior to joining the Baobab Group, Sarah worked for the SUNU Group, a pan-African financial services group. First, she served as HRBP within its Life Insurance subsidiary in Côte d’Ivoire, then as Group HR Director where she supported subsidiaries in 17 countries on all HR issues.
Mor Talla holds a Master’s degree in Economics, with a focus on Economic Analysis and Policies, as well as a Master’s degree in Money, Finance, and Banking from the University of Dakar.
He joined Baobab Senegal in June 2009 as a credit officer and swiftly progressed through the ranks, holding positions such as Credit Supervisor, Zone Director, and Customer Director, among others. Mor Talla has also served as Customer Director at Baobab DRC and Baobab Ivory Coast, where he contributed to strengthening the institution’s presence in these key markets.
His career path then led him to Baobab Bank Madagascar, where he made a significant impact as Deputy General Manager and later as Acting General Manager.
With over fifteen years of experience in the microfinance sector in Africa, Mor Talla has been dedicated since October 2020 to establishing Baobab Mali as a leading institution in the field of microfinance in Africa.
Missa, as the Managing Director of Baobab Group’s Burkina subsidiary (formerly Microcred), brings over 12 years of experience in the African microfinance sector.
In March 2011, he commenced his career at Baobab Senegal as a Junior Auditor and gradually ascended through the organizational hierarchy, holding successive positions including Senior Auditor, Deputy Manager, Manager, and ultimately serving as the Director of Audit for the subsidiary from 2012 to 2017.
Between 2017 and 2019, Missa provided cross-functional oversight, effectively leading Audit teams across five Group subsidiaries (Senegal, Côte d’Ivoire, Mali, Burkina, and the DRC).
From 2019 to 2020, in the role of Deputy Managing Director of Baobab Côte d’Ivoire, he adeptly managed various support functions, encompassing Procurement and Logistics, Marketing and Development, IT, Legal, and Compliance, among others.
Since October 2020, as the Managing Director of Baobab Burkina, Missa has been entrusted with the strategic development of the network and portfolio, nurturing human capital, and ensuring the financial viability of the institution. Collaboratively with his teams, he aspires to establish the institution as a prominent force in advancing financial inclusion, to the benefit of our communities.
Sandrine Mayindombe, formerly Deputy Country Manager of Baobab Bank Madagascar, brings over 18 years of experience in the banking and inclusive finance sectors, working with key players such as Advans Banque Congo.
She also holds a successful managerial experience in audit, finance, operations, and Project Management, with over 7 years spent as a consultant at GFI Group within BNP Paribas. Her extensive experience in various contexts and countries (France, DRC, Nigeria) is a key asset for the Baobab Group.
Sandrine holds a degree from the University of Paris Dauphine and a Master’s in International Business and Trade Program from the University of Washington.
Bodo Lieberam has accumulated 24 years of experience in the micro and SME finance sector, with 18 of those years spent within Baobab Group. He currently serves as the CEO of Baobab’s subsidiary in China. His previous roles within the organization include CEO of the subsidiaries in Mexico and Tunisia, as well as positions as Operations Manager and Senior Operations Expert.
Before joining Baobab, Bodo held the position of General Manager at NovoBanco in Mozambique, and he also served as President & CEO at Micro Enterprise Bank in the Philippines. Additionally, he worked as a consultant for the establishment of a new microfinance bank in Macedonia and held the position of Branch Manager at FEFAD Bank (now ProCredit) in Albania.
